Yellow Water Cruises

Product description
Yellow Water Billabong — Kakadu's most famous wetland — lies at the end of Jim Jim Creek, a tributary of the South Alligator River. Part of Kakadu's largest river system, this vast landscape of river channels, floodplains and backwater swamps is internationally recognised for its beauty, biodiversity and cultural significance. Featured in National Geographic Traveller (2024) and named a Top 10 Things to Do Worldwide by TripAdvisor (2024–2025), Yellow Water is an unmissable Kakadu experience.

Around one-third of Australia's bird species are found in Kakadu National Park, with more than 60 species recorded in the Yellow Water wetlands alone. Whistling Ducks and Magpie Geese are especially abundant, alongside saltwater crocodiles and a rich variety of other wildlife.

Operating exclusively on Yellow Water Billabong, Yellow Water Cruises is a Quality Tourism Accredited and Eco Tourism Australia Certified operator, delivering world-class experiences year-round. Cruises run up to six times daily, lasting 90 or 120 minutes. Sunrise and sunset cruises are particularly popular and advance bookings are recommended. No two cruises are ever the same — each journey offers a unique window into this living wetland.

All cruises are led by highly experienced guides accredited with Kakadu Knowledge certification, sharing deep insights into the cultural landscape and how Bininj people have sustainably used the flora and fauna for tens of thousands of years.
